Remove ChatGPT formatting from any text
For everywhere the destination pages don't cover: web forms, chat tools, spreadsheets, CMS fields. One strip, no surprises.
Your paste
Cleaned
Plain text, safe for any field
What lands on your clipboard is text, nothing else. Forms, tickets, chat tools, spreadsheets — everything accepts it.
The full strip list
## / ** / ` / >all markdown syntax removed from headings, bold, italics, code and quotes
【3†source】internal AI citation marks removed
[text](url)links become text, with the URL in brackets only when it adds information
| a | b |pipe tables become readable lines, separator rows dropped
(invisible)zero-width, bidi and non-breaking characters stripped
(blank)spacing collapsed to one blank line between paragraphs
Three steps, nothing to learn
Paste the junk
Any AI, any length — the cleaner works on the format, not the source.
Check the result
The cleaned text appears live; the issue counter tells you what was found.
Copy plain text
Paste it anywhere. If the target is an app with real formatting, use its destination page instead.
The text stays in your browser. No upload, no log, no history — which is exactly what a cleaner for sensitive AI output should be.
Questions about removing ChatGPT formatting
How is this different from the destination pages (Gmail, Word, Docs, LinkedIn)?
Those pages convert the text to match one specific app — real headings for Word, rich text for Gmail, Slack markup, and so on. This page produces plain text that pastes safely anywhere: forms, chat tools, spreadsheets, CMS fields, code editors.
Does it work on Claude and Gemini text too?
Yes. The cleaner targets formatting patterns — markdown symbols, citation markers, hidden characters — not one specific chatbot. Any AI-generated paste is fair game.
What are these 【3†source】 marks and why do they exist?
They are internal citation links ChatGPT inserts when it answers with web search. They only work inside the chat interface, so outside it they are noise. This cleaner removes them.
Can zero-width characters really break things?
Yes. Invisible characters like non-breaking spaces and zero-width spaces survive copy-paste into forms and are a common cause of lookups and field validation failing for no visible reason. They are stripped out.
Does cleaning change my words?
No. Only formatting characters and junk are touched. If a document has no formatting junk, the output is byte-identical to the input.
